SHARON BUTALA is the author of the beloved memoir, The Perfection of the Morning: An Apprenticeship in Nature, which remained on bestseller lists for over a year. In 1998 Sharon Butala won the Marian Engel Award for a woman writer in mid-career; former winners include Carol Shields, Alice Munro, Bonnie Burnard, Barbara Gowdy and Jane Urquhart. Sharon has written sixteen books, both fiction and nonfiction, many essays and articles and reviews, and has had five plays produced, winning a number of awards along the way. In 2002, Sharon was invested as an Officer in the Order of Canada. Her most recent book, The Girl in Saskatoon, was published in Canada by HarperCollins.
